How can you effectively convey the unique flavors and playful personality of Grizly Hard Seltzer?

‘Grizly’ Hard Seltzer Ale by House of Bira 91

House of Bira 91 wanted to enter the Hard Seltzers category with the launch of ‘Grizly’ Hard Seltzer Ale. As health-consciousness continues to be on the rise among young adults, the Seltzer category presents a significant growth opportunity. ‘Grizly’ Hard Seltzer Ale by Bira 91 is a unique blend of bespoke cocktails, wine, and beer in a single can. Crafted by master mixologists, this all-natural, low-sugar drink is tailored for mindful consumers, and it offers an unparalleled drinking experience. The blend is inspired by classic cocktails, and the finest herbs and fruits from nature are infused with alcohol, which makes it stand out from the competition. The three flavors of Grizly Hard Seltzer Ale are Pineapple & Okinawa, Peach & Black Tea, and Blueberry & Rosemary. Expert mixologists have masterfully twisted the seltzers to create a highly sessionable drink. NH1Design was entrusted with the task of crafting the complete brand narrative for this new product offering.


As the brand designers for Grizly Hard Seltzer Ale, we knew we needed a mascot that embodied the brand's creative and imaginative spirit. After exploring several iterations, we landed on the idea of a Grizzly bear with an artistic personality.  The Grizly bear mascot serves as a playful and imaginative reminder of the brand's mission to turn creative drinkers into mixologists. By incorporating this iconic mascot into the overall brand identity, we have created a distinctive and memorable look for Grizly Hard Seltzer Ale. Grizly bear mascot showcases the brand's commitment to quality and natural ingredients while also appealing to the target audience's sense of adventure and fun.


Product Architecture

We aimed to create a clear visual differentiation between high and low ABV products. To achieve this, we assigned distinct colors and crafted unique logo units for each category. By doing so, we aimed to help consumers easily identify and choose their preferred product based on its alcohol content. Our design strategy also aimed to create a strong brand identity and recognition for each category of product, while maintaining a cohesive visual language across the entire brand portfolio.

4.5% ABV

Silver colour and the standard logo unit have been used in the low ABV flavour variants.


7.5% ABV

Gold colour as well as the Grizly ‘Gold’ logo unit has been used for high ABV flavour variants.

Material Palette

It was important to ensure that the material palette used for Grizly conveyed its premium nature and effectively highlighted its unique flavors. To achieve this, we carefully curated a selection of materials for sales collateral and point of sale displays that reflected the brand's quality and helped bring its flavor story to life. We utilized a combination of high-end textures and  metallic finishes to create a visual language that resonated with consumers and communicated the sophistication of the Grizly brand. The material palette we chose played an integral role in elevating the overall brand experience.
